Mass resignation of 25,000 teachers in the state
The high school teachers strike reached the peak stage on thursday when 25,000 teachers decided to resign from the job in protest against the block grant-in-aid system.The agitated mass has given a period of seven day ultimatum to the government to resolve their issue.
This fomented step will affect the comming matriculation examination in 2,375 schools across the state.The secondary school teachers are in a demand of providing full grant-in-aid to all of them instead of the previous block grant-in-aid system.
The school and education minister, Pratap Jena has pleaded theĀ mass not to play with the career of thousands of students as the exams are near-by.He has also assured that necessary steps will be taken to solve their demand.
“We have no information regarding the resignation of the teachers.But steps will be taken to end the plight of teachers, “said Pratap Jena.
The secondary school teachers are demanding full grant-in-aid instead of block grant assistance.To meet up their demand the teachers were on a rally in Bhubaneswar on Monday.Police tried to distort the strike by resorting mild lathi charge and used water canon to disperse the agitated teachers.
This issue was raised by the opposition the next day in the Assembly to attack against the government.
